The Lakes is one of the newer communities in the Rancho Santa Fe region. This San Diego neighborhood is also within the Crosby community although it has its own gated security system.
The Lakes was built between 2011 and 2014 and offers homes inspired by a Spanish architectural style. Van Daele Homes and Lennar Homes were both among the original builders. There is a Home Owners Association fee that covers the entrance and common area maintenance with a Mello Roos tax. These homes are often priced in the millions and many of them have private pools.
The Poway Unified School District offers highly ranked facilities like Del Sur Elementary School, Oak Valley Middle School, and Del Norte High School. There are hundreds of private institutions like the Calvary Christian Academy, Escondido Adventists Academy, the Montessori American School, and Halstrom Academy. Public universities include the University of California (UCSD) and San Diego State University (SDSU) as well as the San Diego Community College District.
Some homeowners purchase Crosby Club memberships in order to use the pool, tennis courts, clubhouse, and fitness center. The club features a Brian Curley and Fred Couples golf course as well as facilities for special events. To the northeast is Lake Hodges which offers many recreational opportunities like bicycling and kayaking as well as horseback riding on the 55-mile trail that runs from coast to crest. And the beaches are less than 15 minutes away.
San Diego is California’s second largest city and the nation’s eighth. Its economy relies on tourism, manufacturing, international trade, and military defense related activities.
